The
purpose of an education is to replace an empty mind with an open one “- Malcolm
Forbes”
Hi!
Everybody am back to blogging and my blog is about the Indian educational
system and the steps that has to be taken to improvise the same.
Education
is a right and need of every human being .Upon imparting the right education
at the right time to the right individual, the individual can be strongly
shaped academically, professionally and personally to face the challenges in
this fiercely competitive world.
The
Indian education system is way different from the western countries, in
western countries it’s more of practical education & less theoretical education,
whereas in India it is vice versa .
The
Indian education system was initially a “Gurukul System” from the Gurukul system we progressed to university
learning and had the below mentioned universities in India.
ü Nalanda University
ü Pushpagiri University
ü Ratnagiri University
ü Bikrampur University
But unfortunately these
universities did not come into record as it was invaded by Britishers..
The Indian education system
follows a primitive pattern where the students are bombarded with a set
curriculum and are expected to by heart chapter after chapter to secure high
marks in the examination without understanding the concepts.
A student’s intelligence is judged
by the marks secured in the examination. The students in the school are blinded
by the pressure to stay ahead in the rat race. In a age where students are
expected to exhibit their creative, analytical and thinking skills they are
forced to follow the curriculum assigned to them and slog day & night to
stay ahead.
Although India proudly boats of
having IIT’s & IIM’s and the finest medical & law colleges ,the country
should not only focus on Engineers, Management gurus, but also should focus on improving the number of
writers , scientist, agriculturist, environmentalist etc as they also contribute towards the growth of the
country.
Below mentioned are some of the
ways in which the Indian educational system can be improved to yield better
results
Usage of technology at schools
A typical Indian classroom is
characterized by long hours of lectures by teacher this trend has to be changed
by introducing technology in schools. With the plethora of information available
in the internet with apps such as Byju’s app, educomp smart class and youtube channel called “ Edu India” students
get used to technology from a very young age and learning becomes interesting,
innovative fun & efficient.
Making skilled teachers available
Teachers play a vital role in
shaping up students. Skilled and efficient teachers are those who have not only mastered their subjects but also have mastered the art of nurturing children
and who can be a great source of inspiration to students. Unfortunately we lack teachers who consider teaching as a noble profession, whereas we have
a few teachers who have chosen this
field as they were unable to find some other jobs .
Upliftment of Government schools
We are in dire need of young
talents & out of the box thinkers but unfortunately certain talents go
unrecognized as education is not spread universally. There is a huge gap between
private schools and government schools.
In order to bridge the gap certain initiatives
must be taken in government schools such as better infrastructure, better labs
and other initiatives to be in par with private schools .Upon bridging the gap
we are sure to recognize and reward hidden talents .
Focus on skill development
It’s high time to bring on a
drastic change in the Indian education system and the change can be made by
reducing the importance given to mere classroom learning and by increasing the
importance given to other skills such as analytical skills, problem solving
skills etc.
Subjects such as Maths & Science can be understood much better
by the application of aptitude and other skills .Both private & govt schools
should take immediate action in applying these skills on a daily basis &
make it a part of their curriculum . Schools must give assignments to students
to enhance these skills .
My dear new found friends and
fellow bloggers . Numbers & grades does not determine a child’s intelligence,
they don’t help in solving real life equation. It is the aptitude , intelligence
& common sense that will help
Let us all come together to ensure
that education becomes universal irrespective of socio economic backgrounds.Education is fundamental to human progress and it plays a vital role in the
development of an individual in the society . Immediate steps must be taken to
ensure education reaches every household . Remember education is not
expenditure it is an investment .
Thank You,
